This Sunday, May 26, we will be holding a long run in conjunction with Gold Coast Airport Marathon. The run will leave from the usual spot at Justins Park, Burleigh Heads at 6:30am. We will meet at 6:15am for a briefing. We will be running approx 25km that day and our run will be led by
Caine Warburton and Dave Coombs. Shorter options will also be available.
What is in the water at Gold Coast runners club?

Next Sunday there are a number of club members heading to Victoria for the Great Ocean Rd event – which includes 6km, 14km 23km and 45km events. We wish you all the best!
Race 4 of the Runaway Bay series will also be held next Sunday – there are 5km and 15km options. Good luck to all runners there.
We have our regular Sunday run at Justins Park, Burleigh Heads. Meet at 6:15am for a 6:30am start.
This Sunday, at Pizzey Park, we are holding the annual Sawtell Gift. This is a 1 mile event, sponsored by Grant Sawtell, to find the fastest runner in the club.
It’s short and fast, only 1 mile. How fast can you go.
Meet at Pizzey Park Athletics track at 6:15am for a 6:30am start.
Thinking of indulging in chocolate this weekend? How perfect would it be if you could run first so you don’t feel guilty? Well, you can!
We will be running this Sunday from Justins Park, Burleigh Heads at 6:30am. It’s a special event, so no watches.
Come, run, eat chocolate!
Firstly, congratulations to all runners who took part in various events over the weekend…Six Foot Track, Nerang State Forest and Kingscliff Triathlon. Putting yourself out there, through pain and discomfort is, apparently, fun!
Next Sunday we have a club run from Justins Park, Burleigh Heads at 6:30am. Come and join us. It’s a good way to get motivated for the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, in July, with entries opening next Monday.
Next Sunday sees Round Two of the Runaway Bay Series event – either 5km or 8km. If you have not already entered, list Gold Coast Runners Club as your club, to see some money come back to the club. Good luck to everyone running in Race Two.
The first Time Trial of the year was held last Sunday in rainy conditions at Evandale. Congratulations to all those that braved the weather. It wasn’t really too bad after the conditions that many people faced the day before. The results are now on the website.
Good luck to Cindy and Norm who are heading to the Blue Mountains for the famous 6 Foot Track race on Saturday, and to all those competing in the Nerang State Forest event on Sunday.
For those of you staying on the Gold Coast we have our regular Sunday club run leaving from Justins Park, Burleigh at 6:30am.
Whatever run you are doing, enjoy being outside!

Overnight downpours didn’t deter too many runners from competing in Race 1 of the Sports Super Centre Series. The race itself was dry (although it poured for the kids races) and around 15 Gold Coast Runners Club members participated and even managed some top 3 spots. There were also some great giveaways won…a night at Salt, Kingscliff; Gold Coast marathon packs, Ron Hill vouchers and Brooks vouchers. Congratulations to Peter Large for becoming a member of the 10 year club!

This coming Sunday, 24th Feb, we will be running from Justins Park at Burleigh Heads. Meet at 6:15am for a 6:30am start. Consistency is the key to achieving your goals for 2013.
Wow, it was busy down at Burleigh Heads on Sunday. With the Burleigh Swim Run that was postponed from last week, the Burleigh Surf Pro and around 40 Gold Coast runners there was certainly lots happening. Many people are starting on their journey to achieve their goals and it is great to see so many existing members and new people turn up for a run.
Next Sunday we are having a club run from Justins Park at 6:15am. Come and join us. Distances vary from 5-12km and there are lots of different speeds.
Don’t forget, if you are entering the Sports Centre Super Series mention that you run for Gold Coast Runners as they will donate back to the club for each entry.
Right smack bang in the middle of the real Australia day (26th Jan, for those who may not be from here) and the public holiday for Australia Day (28th Jan) is Sunday 27th January. So what will you be doing?
We are going to be running! Surprise, surprise! We will meet as usual at Justins Park, Burleigh Heads at 6:15am for a 6:30am start. Hope to see you there.
Remember, those New Year’s resolutions are still achievable! Juts get out there and run!
