On the weekend of 14th-15th May some Gold Coast Runners Club members travelled to chilly Victoria to take part in the Great Ocean Road Marathon.

Last Sunday Keith McKay ran in Comrades Marathon, a gruelling 52 miles (86.96km). He finished in an amazing 8:08:58 placing him 2nd in his age group.
Congratulations Keith! A super effort and a great reward for all the hard work you have put in just to get there!

This Sunday we are holding the 5th time trial for the year. The event will be 10km. Please meet at 4th Ave at 6:15 am. The time trials are a great way to track your progress. Whether this will be your 5th for the year or your 1st we invite you to attend and race against yourself.

This Sunday, 29th May, we welcome runners and walkers from the Twin Towns club. We will be running from 4th ave, Burleigh Heads. There will be various distances on offer to suit all levels and abilities. Please meet at 6:15am for a 6:30am start.
Afterwards we will have breakfast at a local cafe.

This weekend members of the club will be marshalling at the Varsity Fun Run so there will be no beach run.

Congratulations to those runners who competed in the Great Ocean Road Marathon last weekend. We thought it was chilly on the Gold Coast but they certainly felt the cold in Victoria.

Last Sunday we held the inaugural Sawtell Gift 1 mile race, sponsored by Grant Sawtell. It was held along the beachfront at Burleigh and the results can be found on the website under the ‘Results’ tab. Special thanks to Grant for the prizes which were won by Steve and Judy as the first male and female across the finish line. Amanda and Captain were the winners of the spot prizes.
This Sunday we will be having a beachfront run. Please meet at 4th Ave, Burleigh Heads at 6:15am for a 6:30am start.
Good luck to the many runners heading down to Victoria for the Great Ocean Road Marathon this weekend. We will be thinking of you running in the cold whilst we are running in the beautiful Queensland sun!

Sunday May 8 will be the inaugural Sawtell Gift. The Sawtell Gift is a 1 mile race. There will be prizes for the first male and first female. Any runner who completes the race will also be eligible for spot prizes.

Please meet at Justin’s Park, Burleigh Heads at 6:15 am for a 6:30 am start. We will then have a warm up to get to the start of the race. After the race we will have a gentle jog back to Justin’s Park where you can enjoy a BYO breakfast or swim (or both).

We look forward to seeing runners of all abilities compete in this exciting race.
